Imagine…

…a group of people who, having been inspired by Paul’s words to the Thessalonians (1 Thess. 2:8), commit to doing life together in an inner city neighbourhood in the City of Winnipeg.

As an accountable community they seek to develop rhythms of life that make loving God and loving people who are poor sustainable. These rhythms are based on three patterns observed in the life of Jesus:

  1. Jesus withdrew to be alone and pray (Contemplation)
We learn about and practice spiritual disciplines designed to deepen our relationship with God.
  2. Jesus had fellowship with a close circle of friends (Community)
We meet weekly to worship together and to share the joys, sorrows, and insights experienced during our week in order to learn the truth expressed in the proverb that says, “Shared joy is double joy, shared sorrow is half sorrow.”
  3. Jesus actively engaged with those in need (Connection)
We regularly engage with our neighbours in order to develop credible friendships that both enrich our lives and allow us to respond when someone is in need. We do this with the full recognition that often we are the ones in need of help.

“We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you [have] become so dear to us.”
1 Thessalonians 2:8
